Has anyone run across a reliable remote I/O systems that is capable of wireless communication? I currently have a Banner gateway and node system that allows for 2 DI, 2 DO, 2 AI, and 2 AO. I need the analog but not all of the discrete.

You should check out:

I used their Wireless RS232 modules on a project for communicating between a PC and an ASRS crane PLC and they were rock solid in terms of reliability.

We've recently setup some accutech systems from www.controlmicrosystems.com.

They were pretty easy to setup. Software is free.

Radio has modbus output, but if you don't want to deal with that, there are AO/sw modules that you can wire into PLC inputs.

The transmitters are all intrinsically safe. They have a variety of sensors or you can use the current/Voltage field unit and wire to the sensor of your choice. Depending on the desired scan time, battery life can be 5-10years. Up to 100 field devices per radio.
