FactoryTalk was working fine until today. After making some minor changes ( marked the audio bit on a few alarms ) any new application runtimes will not load under Station. What makes this so strange is that the same runtimes work on my PanelView 1500's and under test mode in ME Studio. I even went so far as to recover the project using the last known 'loadable' runtime, but I receive the same "unable to load the application" message. I'm beginning to think that this might have to do with FactoryTalk Directory, but resetting the directory had no effect. |

I thought I'd update this question with some answers. Reinstalling from the OS up was the only solution that worked for me. Solution 1: Run the Windows Disk Cleanup tool. Make sure the that the Solution 2: FactoryTalk sometimes caches a backup of your runtime that becomes corrupted. Explore into the folder where your runtimes are stored and delete everything except the Solution 3: If you're on CR9 SR1 or earlier, apply updates and repeat solutions 1 and 2. Solution 4: Make sure all extra firewall software is turned off, and double check antivirus to make sure it can't lock down any Rockwell processes. Some vendors ship security software that is enabled by default (like Embassy on Dell systems). Solution 5: Roll back service pack 3 on Windows XP as it has introduced unknown bugs into the Rockwell environment in the past Solution 6: Your system is corrupted due to undocumented Rockwell bugs that even they aren't sure exist. Reinstall Windows because system files and your registry are completely trashed. Note: If Rockwell says "it's a hardware issue" and pushes for hardware replacement, you should try solution 6 because they've exhausted their knowledgebase and they have no idea why it is failing |

First thing I'd check is version compatibility. What version of each software are you using?
everything is CR9 SR2. no possibilities for someone pulling a ninja update on me either as this is already on an isolated network.
