Has anybody ever wired a safety switch with PNP outputs (not dry contact) into the Safefty gate circuit input of a Fanuc RJ3ib controller? I usually use a dry contact switch. Do I need to buy a safety relay to do this?

Alternatively, if anyone has a favourite non-contact barrel style safety switch with dry contacts (2 NC and 1 NO) that would be great too.

The solution to the problem was to go with a safety limit switch vs. non-contact. The limit switch has dry contacts which is what the safety circuit requires.

If the switch could not be substituted an additional safety relay could be installed to safely convert the non-contact switch to dry contact off of the safety relay.

Haven't used any barrel style safety switches, but for limit switches/door switches, I'd go with OMRON D4BS series every time. The Price is great! I've had plenty of headaches with others' switches failing after only 5000-10000 cycles, but not with these!
