ME application takes a long time to load (5 to 25 minutes) in FactoryTalk View ME 5.0

When the problem occurs CPU usage ramps up and eventually hits 100%.

Once the application is successfully loaded (after 5 to 25 minutes), CPU % usage decreases back to normal range.

This can be frustrating due to the excessive processor use. The fix is fairly easy:

First, delete harmony files and reboot the pc; check to see if an application opens faster.

(Close RSLinx or stop the service via Start-Programs-RSLinx-Launch Control Panel) and delete harmony.hrc and harmony.rhs --> these file can be searched or they are found in C:\ProgramFiles\Rockwell Software\RSCommon

If that does not fix it, you may need to uninstall and reinstall RS Linx Classic.

Check the INSTALL.LOG in C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSLinx\ and look for install errors.

To reinstall RS Linx classic, use local media or external media. Uninstall and reinstall via add remove. If upgrading, the new installation will uninstall for you and install a new version.

Is this problem specific to the FactoryTalk ME Software, or a specific Application. One cause may be a problem within the actual FactoryTalk ME Application which is causing problems within the program.

A few items to look at would be the Security Settings and the Communication Paths that are currently being used withing the program. Occasionally an application will take a long time to load or create a runtime file if the Tag Browser is having communication issues.

Just Something else to think about.
